I was floored to find out some sad news today. Apparently yesterday, Kevin Duckworkth at the age of 44 died suddenly, apparently of heart failure due to congestive heart failure. Who is Kevin Duckworth, you may ask and why would I care so much? Well, here's why...
I am and forever will be a Portland Trailblazers fan. I was born and raised in my young years in Salem, Oregon. This of course also was also during the golden years of the Blazers. They made it to the NBA playoffs in 1990 and 1992 with the help of the 7-foot Duckworth. I will always remember, especially the 1992 playoffs, when Duckworth, Uncle Cliffy (Cliff Robinson), Clyde Drexler, Buck Williams, and Terry Porter played their hearts out against the Bulls. They ended up losing the finals, but what great memories there were to be had! I even remember collecting these glass cups from Dairy Queen of every player of the Blazers that season. Man, I still to this day wish I had them! Funny the little things you remember when you're a kid.
So, Kevin, this is for you! You will be missed, but all of us die-hard Blazer fans have the fondest memories of you that will last a lifetime!!!
